Our face should be an expression of our personality. Even if we feel young and vital on the inside, signs of aging and circumstances from life can make our facial expressions lose vibrant and youthful qualities. Our daily environmental influences (UV exposure from the sun), our lifestyle (smoking, unhealthy eating habits) or too much stress can be attributed to early aging. In addition, a lifelong activity of natural expressions, combined with the natural aging processes of the skin and connective tissue, ensures that the skin's elasticity is slowly lost. The fatty tissue, which is still defined and voluminous in youth starts to slacken, sink or partially disappear with age. The result is a tired appearance, even though our condition is an enthusiastic and spirited one.
Thanks to modern plastic surgery, it is possible to rejuvenate your face and neck region by means of a modern and gentle face lift or neck lift. This involves tightening your skin on both the face and neck, lifting sunken fatty and connective tissue and creating a subtle three-dimensional model of the face without permanently altering or even losing the individual expression of your face. We adhere great importance to a natural result so that your individual facial features are not changed. Your face will retain its genuine appearance!

The aging process of our face
In the course of time, gravity and the dwindling elasticity of the skin on the face and neck have an unfavourable effect on our facial contours. Wrinkles on the forehead, around the mouth and nose area (nasolabial folds), as well as around the eyes and cheeks become more pronounced. The facial features lose their youthful resilience. Further characteristics of aging are the sagging of the eyebrows on the sides, the drooping of the upper eyelid as well as the formation of bags under the lower eyelid.
As the aging process progresses, the connective and fatty tissues of the midface and cheek bones slacken, causing the cheeks to sag, resulting in "droopy cheeks." The contours of the lower jaw lose their firmness and a "double chin" is formed. In addition, the musculature of the neck slackens, which results in the formation of longitudinal skin folds on the neck and under the chin, unattractively called "turkey neck."
Many affected people find these signs of aging disturbing and therefore wish for a long-term improvement.

Important questions and answers
1. What is the procedure of the facelift and aftercare?
With the modern facelift method favoured by us, hair-thin incisions are placed unnoticeably along the base of the ear, i.e., on the front and back of the ear. Since the scars run along the natural hairline and anatomical structures such as the auricle, they are almost invisible later.
The fatty and connective tissue are carefully tightened and reshaped with targeted suturing techniques to restore the full, youthful volume of the cheek area and midface. In addition, slack neck muscles are tightened and excess fatty tissue on the chin is gently reduced.
A facelift can be combined with other procedures, such as an injection of autologous fat; eliminating wrinkles with hyaluronic acid; a medical deep peeling (phenol peeling); a temple or forehead lift; an upper and lower eyelid lift.
A single facelift procedure lasts about three hours and is performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic. On request, a general anaesthetic and a one or two-day inpatient stay in the clinic are also possible. The stitches are removed two weeks after the facelift.
2. When does a facelift make sense?
A facelift is always advisable if sagging facial regions, or sagging skin on the face and neck, need to be permanently repositioned. The reasons for treatment are manifold. One reason is the desire for a youthful, radiant face. This is usually the first priority for those affected.
It is absolutely possible to visually restore a vibrant appearance. Whether it is a complete face lift or just a mini-lift (an isolated forehead lift, a temple lift, a cheek lift), we can make the adjustments that will be most suitable for you. We will be happy to explain more in the initial individual consultation at our practice.
3. At what age is a facelift reasonable?
Depending on the condition of the skin and the soft tissues of the face, we recommend a face lift only from a middle age (approx. from the age of 40). Stable health is essential for this operation.
Before the age of 40, the use of hyaluronic acid in combination with skin tightening procedures such as Ultherapy and FaceTiteTM is a very effective means of rejuvenating the facial skin and restoring youthful volume.
4. How long does a facelift last?
Depending on your personal requirements and the method used, a facelift can last between five and fifteen years. A facelift provides a great opportunity to rejuvenate your face and remain alluring for many years to come.
Further FAQ
How much does a facelift cost?
Our prices for a facelift start from € 4,600. Since the extent of this procedure depends on your personal wishes, we will be happy to discuss the exact costs with you in a detailed consultation at our plastic surgery practice in Düsseldorf's Medienhafen. The costs for a facial skin lift will be determined after the consultation.
How long will I be unable to work after the procedure?
As there is always swelling and bruising after a facelift, it is advisable to give yourself two weeks for the recovery process and healing. You should avoid physical activities, such as sports and sauna visits for six weeks. Numbness and a feeling of tension in the skin, especially in the front ear region, are temporary and normal symptoms after this procedure. The discomfort will disappear on its own after a few days or weeks.
What risks should I expect?
In the hands of a specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery with many years of experience and qualifications, a facelift is a very safe surgical procedure and complications are rare. Nevertheless, there are possible risks in the form of bleeding, infections, nerve injuries, scarring and wound healing disorders, which we will inform you about in a very detailed consultation.
